What does WCATY have to offer you?

Age Range: Current 2nd -4th Graders

Program: Growing Early Minds (GEM)

Geek Factor: In the Growing Early Minds program, you will have the chance to explore an area you geek out about with like-minded classmates. You will be able to ask questions and dive into topics that spark your curiosity.

Age Range: Current 4th Graders

Program: Young Student Summer Program (YSSP) and Growing Early Minds (GEM)

Geek Factor: The GEM school-year program will provide you with a community that loves to learn as much as you do! Get ready to dive into topics you would not normally cover in your classroom. YSSP gives you a class, a camp, and a geeky community.  Explore subject matter that you’d never get to try in a normal school setting.   Participate in a talent show; write warm fuzzies; eat ice cream every day if you want.  Become part of something bigger than you and create relationships that last long after camp’s closing ceremonies.

Age Range: Current 5th and 6th Graders

Programs: Academy, Project A, Young Student Summer Program (YSSP), and Preparatory Academic Campus Experience (PACE)

Geek Factor: You will have a chance to move beyond the typical type of classroom learning to ponder complex, real-world problems and big, philosophical questions in a vibrant community. You will be interacting alongside like-minded peers from all over the state; peers who geek out about the same type of stuff you do. You may not always agree on the topic, but the conversations will be dynamic and engaging. Become part of something bigger than you and create relationships that last long after camp’s closing ceremonies or your last week of class.

Age Range: Current 7th and 8th Graders

Programs: Academy, Project A, Preparatory Academic Campus Experience (PACE), and Summer Transitional Enrichment Program (STEP)

Geek Factor: You will be pushed to make real-world connections and dive into material usually covered in high school or even college settings. You will be asked to ponder complex, real-world problems and big, philosophical questions. In class, you will be interacting alongside like-minded peers from all over the state and even nation; peers who geek out about the same type of stuff you do. You may not always agree on the topic, but the conversations will be dynamic and engaging. Become part of something bigger than you and create relationships that last long after camp’s closing ceremonies or the last week of class.

Age Range: Current 9th through 12th Graders

Programs: Accelerated Learning Program (ALP)

Geek Factor: ALP gives you a challenging class and a geeky community.  Tackle rigorous college level subject matter on the UW Campus.   Spend your time living in residence halls with like-minded kids who have the drive to challenge themselves academically and who want to get out of their comfort zone.  Be social.  Be independent. Become part of something bigger than you and create relationships that last long after camp’s closing ceremonies.
